This program is for anyone who has a sincere desire to learn about yoga and deepen their studies within a safe, encouraging and vibrant community setting.  Students participate for a variety of reasons; to further their personal practice, to teach or find out if they want to teach, all of which can be accommodated.

Our curriculum exceeds their minimal requirements by 13 hours.  Students can miss up to 13 hours of class and still fulfill the minimal amount of training required to be certified by Axis Yoga Trainings and register with the Yoga Alliance. Bonus extra-credit opportunities are offered as well.

Students can also make up class in the form of designated extra credit opportunities. There will be approximately 12 hours of extra credit hours made available. An additional small fee or donation is required to participant in these extracurricular classes.

A typical week of study will include three sessions that total 13 hours. There are two 8 hour retreat days that happen over the course of the 15 week long program. There is about an hour of outside required reading/study each week and students are encouraged to develop a personal practice.

Students who fulfill the necessary hours of class, complete all of their assignments and have completed all of their payments for the program are eligible to receive their Axis Yoga Trainings Certification.

One of the beauties of yoga practice is its adaptability, so the practices can be modified to suite a variety of abilities.  Certainly more experience offers its advantages however, students who have an earnest desire to learn excel in this program.

Axis Yoga references the classical/traditional teachings of yoga.  Yoga is the central inquiry of the program and there are many methods to support that inquiry; such as breathing methods, meditation, postures, theory and lifestyle.  These methodologies are presented as a synthesized whole, giving the student many reference points for the practice of yoga.  Although an over simplification, you could call that process Hatha Yoga.

Over 350 people from all walks of life and locations including Denver, Summit County and as far away as Iowa have all completed Axis Yoga Trainings’ program. AYT also introduces students to a wide network of graduates, local yoga studios, community yoga programs and many experienced, specialized yoga teachers.

Required Readings

Axis Yoga takes a multidimensional approach to teaching and learning.  Supplemental reading is part of that process.  Reading assignments a coupled with presentations, discussions and real life experimentation.  Concepts are coupled with actual off the book/mat assignments.  The following books provide a framework from which to begin that process and are a required part of of the program.
